Job description

Reports to: School Principal
 
Job Purpose: To actively support ICT integration in Lower Primary by delivering engaging digital literacy lessons using tools such as Purple Mash, while introducing learners to foundational computer skills in line with the CBC curriculum. The role also promotes the formation of each student’s moral character, unique talents, and abilities, while empowering teachers through structured ICT training and ongoing support to ensure continuous improvement and quality education.
 
Duties & Responsibilities
 
  1. Endeavour to maintain and develop the ethos of the school in accordance with the directions given by the Directors and subject thereto, the directions given by the Principal.
  2. Deliver structured, age-appropriate ICT lessons in line with the CBC framework and the school’s curriculum progression.
  3. Introduce and reinforce foundational digital skills such as mouse control, keyboard navigation, file management, and safe browsing.
  4. Contribute to constructive team-building amongst teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and the Directors.
  5. Ensure that the agreed conditions of employment for school teachers are met.
  6. Implement agreed school policies and guidelines in consultation with the Principal.
  7. Support initiatives decided by the Principal and other staff.
  8. Be able to set clear targets based on prior attainment for student’ learning.
  9. Keep appropriate and efficient records of work, integrating formative and summative assessment into weekly and termly planning.
  10. Report to parents on the development, progress and attainment of students.
  11. Maintain good order and discipline amongst students in accordance with the school’s behavior policy.
  12. Participate in meetings which relate to the school’s management, curriculum, administration as well as organization.
  13. Lead, organize and direct support staff within the classroom.
  14. Participate in the performance management system for effective service delivery.
  15. Attend staff meetings, seminars and co-curricular events that are associated with the school curriculum.
  16. Assist with out-of-school activities as may be needed from time to time.
  17. Promote a professional image of self as a teacher.
  18. Always dress appropriately as a professional and uphold the school’s image.
  19. Undertake such duties that may be reasonably regarded as within the nature of the duties of the post. Any changes of a permanent nature shall be incorporated into the job description in specific terms.
  20. Perform any other duties as directed by the Principal, Deputy Principal or any other senior management staff
  21. Facilitate workshops and refresher sessions on effective use of school-approved educational software
  22. Maintain order, safety, and functionality in the computer room; enforce safety protocols and digital hygiene practices.
  23. Monitor learner progress, provide differentiated support where needed, and maintain digital portfolios or assessment records.

Minimum requirements

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor of Education degree (BED) with a specialization in ICT, Computer Science or related field from a recognized University/ Institution
  • Be a registered TSC member
  • A minimum of 3 years IT teaching experience in a recognized school
