Job description

To deliver high-quality instruction in Key Stage 3–4 English Language & Literature while mentoring other teachers in effective pedagogical practices. The teacher will support curriculum implementation, lesson planning, assessment strategies, and ongoing professional development to strengthen Literacy teaching across the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach English Language and Literature to high standards across Key Stages 3–4.
  • Work with HOD to provide coaching, lesson modelling, and professional development to teachers of English and Literature.
  • Work with the HOD to lead departmental initiatives on writing instruction, textual analysis, and exam technique.
  • Work with the HOD to guide the selection and teaching of set texts and ensure alignment with IGCSE standards.
  • Work with the HOD to design assessments that reflect Cambridge exam requirements and support moderation processes.
  • Work with the HOD to monitor and support the implementation of literacy across the curriculum.
  • Work with the HOD to coordinate enrichment activities such as public speaking, writing clubs, debate, and drama.
  • Work with the HOD to use performance data to guide differentiated instruction and exam preparation.
  • Work with the HOD to support teacher growth through reflective practice, team teaching, and instructional rounds.
 

 

Minimum requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in education with a specialization in English Language and Literature.
    • At least 10 years' teaching experience, with a minimum of 5 years using the Cambridge curriculum.
    • Proven track record of excellent IGCSE results and student engagement.
    • Experience mentoring peers or leading professional development.
    • Deep understanding of Cambridge assessment criteria and marking schemes.
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
