Job description

JOB PURPOSE 
Coordinate all matters relating to finance, accounting, tax reporting, budgeting and forecasting (and other related matters) ensuring that they are handled effectively, efficiently and reported timely and in an user and client friendly manner, with appropriate controls to prevent fraud, theft or financial error.
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOBS 
1. Compile the company’s annual budget and any revised forecasts or budgets (both Excel and Falcon templates).

2. Prepare monthly management accounts, with actuals vs budget variance analysis and performance commentary (both Excel and Falcon templates)

3. Analyse financial performance, perform cost saving analysis and present insights to senior management.

4. Monitor budget performance and investigate variances

5. Compile other monthly management reports for schools and departments, both regular and on ad hoc requests.

6. Work closely with all departments to ensure that accounting transactions are processed timeously and accurately in Sage, and in accordance with the month end reporting timetable.

7. Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity requirements.

8. Oversee banking relationships, loan facilities, and investments.

9. Assist with setting up users and maintenance of signatories

10. Maintain and reconcile all shareholder and bank loans and other group loans and current accounts.

11. Project manage and plan new systems and processes in accounting systems SAGE.

12. Act as Sage super user/administrator and training coordinator.

13. Maintain Sage general ledger structure and chart of accounts.

14. Reconcile all general ledger balance sheet accounts and coordinate the preparation of all month end reconciliations and schedules.

15. Ensure that the fixed asset register is updated regularly and reconciles to the general ledger.

16. Oversee the capitalisation of all capital work in progress and ensure compliance with group policy

17. Prepare half year and year end results and reports and coordinate internal and external audits.

18. Ensure compliance with all tax obligations (PAYE, VAT, Corporate Tax, Withholding Tax, etc.)

19. Liaise with tax authorities, auditors, and regulatory bodies.

20. Coordinate the development and maintenance of all financial policies and procedures.

21. Design, implement, and monitor internal financial controls and procedures.

22. Identify financial and operational risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

23. Manage company insurance portfolio and Data Protection & Information security compliance

24. Any other duty as may be assigned by the Finance Director from time to time.

25. Payroll review and verification and statutory submissions.

Minimum requirements

a)    Education & Professional Certification    

•    Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting 
•    CPA or ACCA qualification

b)    Specialised knowledge    

•    Detailed knowledge and experience in implementing or working with large ERP software packages is essential.
•    Advanced MS Excel knowledge and experience with MS Office.
•    Generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures, and IFRS.

c)    Skills

•    Communication and active listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
